Comfy Camping

We are really starting to enjoy camping as a family, but only if it is resort style camping!  This past weekend we headed to the Harpers Ferry KOA for a camping trip with friends from church.  This was the same place we went last year.  We slept in a tent and sat by a campfire, but we also went swimming, did crafts, and saw a movie.  We left Logan home with Grandma and Papa but plan on taking him next year.  Kira enjoyed the individual attention from us and Logan had the best time with his grandparents.

We were supposed to leave on Friday afternoon but severe storms were passing through all evening so we decided to leave on Saturday morning.  Kira was very understanding as we explained to her that she had to wait another day to go camping.  To make Friday night special for her, we ordered pizza and had a picnic in the family room with her princess tent and lanterns.  We also watched the original Parent Trap movie (they go camping twice in the movie).

Kira loved every part of camping, especially being in the tent and the s'mores.  I was really nervous about how she was going to sleep (she tossed and turned the whole night last year and even cried at one point) so we kept her up until I knew she was exhausted.  When it was time for bed we crawled in the tent and had our usual nighttime story routine.  She tossed around for about two minutes and then conked out for the rest of the night!  I think we are going to have to buy a bigger tent if Logan is going to come with us next year.
