Kira is my little princess and she's been such a great big sister to Logan. I've been noticing that sometimes we have to make her wait patiently while we solve whatever crisis her little brother has gotten all upset about (like a tiny crumb of food stuck to his finger).
I thought that a Daddy Daughter Date Night would do just the trick. (In case you missed it, this is Jeff writing - I should really blog more, which is odd for me to say). Jen found out through her network of spies (or something called Pinterest) that Chic Fil A was doing a Daddy Daughter Date Night this month. Perfect.
Springfield was all booked up by the time we went to sign up so we opted for the Woodbridge location which turned out to be a great choice.
Home from work in my shirt and tie, I surprised Kira with the news. I don't think she fully understood what she was getting, but when we told her she could dress up in a fancy red dress, her eyes lit up like Christmas lights.
We drove down to Woodbridge listening to Disney princess songs (naturally) and when we arrived at the Chic Fil A, they handed us a slip of paper giving us directions to go up the hill to the Marriott. There they ushered us into a room that was set up with balloons, tables with tablecloths and plastic silverware, and placemats welcoming you. Nicely done all around.
And here's the kicker: It was all free. Not all the Chic Fil A's do it that way, but the owner of this franchise made the whole event his treat.
They served us food buffet style and of course Kira promptly got some sauce on her fancy red dress. When we sat down there was a booklet of questions that we could ask each other and we tried going through some of them between bites but Kira was pretty well distracted by the giant cow walking around the room!
There were only about 15 people there, so the cow kept coming back to our table and giving Kira high fives and stuff like that. She loved it and I can only imagine what she's going to do if/when she sees princesses at Disney World. We finished dinner with a yummy brownie and got a little baggie to go that had lollipops and a stuffed cow in it.
We both had a great time and I was very happy and thankful to Chic Fil A and to Jen who wisely suggested it. Hopefully it is the start of more date nights that we can enjoy together, without the distraction of a noisy but cute little brother.
