Woods Hole Science Aquarium

While in MA, we took a day trip to the southwestern corner of Cape Cod (Falmouth) and went to the Woods Hole Aquarium.  This was a little research aquarium that was very nicely done.  They rescue sea lions and we got to watch a live show and learn about the animals.  The kids were very interested in this after watching both of the Dolphin Tale movies.

The inside of the aquarium was small but had a great selection of live fish on display and and a touch tank for the kids.  I was surprised at the number of "tropical" fish that swim as far north as Cape Cod each summer.  All of the fish at the aquarium had been found in local waters.

After visiting the aquarium we had a snack by the harbor and I took a quick walk around the downtown area.  It was too cold to do anything else.

We piled back in the car and then drove to a lighthouse nearby.  I was itching to get out of the car and get some fresh air so I got out and walked down the beach and up the hill to the lighthouse.  Everyone else drove up to the lighthouse and parked.  Despite the cold wind, it was a beautiful day and a fun area to explore for the day!
