A couple of weeks ago we noticed a large, red spot on one tooth that was not going away. We took him to the dentist and had an x-ray taken. It turns out that the spot is a result of trauma. Here is a short explanation of what is happening to his tooth:

Logan's x-ray looked a lot like the picture on the left. The good news was that there was no infection at this point so he will just have to deal with a permanent red spot on his primary tooth. The dentist is going to monitor the tooth and if it does become infected he will have to remove the tooth.
Fast forward to today when the kids were playing at home with a ride on toy. Somehow Logan fell off the car and it flipped over and hit him in the mouth area. He started to cry and come to me. I thought it would be just like every other day when he hurts himself...until I noticed the blood pouring out of his mouth. It came out so fast and was all over him and me. I was panicking because I couldn't tell at that point what was bleeding and it wasn't stopping. I almost called 911 but managed to call my mom who came over immediately. In the few minutes it took my mom to get to our house I ended up falling down the last five stairs while holding my hysterical son. The left side of my body has been sore all day and I will probably have some nasty bruises. It was a rough morning. Logan still won't let me get a good look at his mouth but I am hoping that only the gums were cut and that the tooth (next to his bad tooth) was not affected. Only time will tell.
I have had my own share of awful trauma experiences with my own teeth so this just makes all of this so much more stressful. We are hoping and praying that nothing else will happen at this point and that his condition won't get worse...or at least not until after next year when we are able to put him on our dental insurance plan.
