Valentine's Day

I am discovering that Valentine's Day can be a lot of fun if you have kids.  This year I went to the $1 store to buy goodies to put in gift bags for each of the kids.  On the morning of Valentine's Day, the kids had fun looking at their candy and gifts and enjoyed heart shaped doughnuts from DD.

Kira celebrated Valentine's Day at preschool with a party and valentine exchange.  While she was at school, Grandma and I took Logan to Barnes and Noble for a story time about Valentine's Day.  After we picked up Kira we went to a lunch party at a friend's house.  The kids had heart shaped pizza, pink lemonade, and pink cupcakes.

For dinner Jeff made the kids heart shaped pancakes.  The kids helped me make a frosted, heart shaped cookie as a surprise for Jeff.  We ordered takeout from a Thai restaurant for ourselves, stuck the kids in front of the TV, and enjoyed a peaceful dinner for two!  The perfect ending to a day all about love was a sappy Nicholas Sparks movie.

  1. I was telling someone last week that now Valentine's is more about the kids. It is a fun celebration for them. We fed the kids, Lydia went to Disney on Ice with a friend, Josiah went to bed, and Wesley watched a movie in the basement while Chris and I had Outback take out! Next year, I think I will just fix a steak dinner for all five us.
