Camping

We went camping again at Harper's Ferry, WV with friends from church.  This trip was Logan's first time camping and he had a great time.  We were unsure about going the first night because of heavy rains, but we decided to go Friday evening despite the rain.  Luckily, all of the rain was gone by the time we arrived at the campgrounds.

Dinner on Friday night was chilli, hot dogs, and dirt & worms for dessert.  We set up our new tent and had a low key evening.  Our new tent supposedly fits 10 people but we managed to fill it up pretty nicely with our family of four.  It's tall enough for Jeff to stand up in it, has a room divider, and the smaller "room" can be converted into a screened in porch area.  The kids had a hard time falling asleep and Logan briefly woke up a few times in the middle of the night.

On Saturday morning we enjoyed pancakes and fruit for breakfast.  Then we went to the playground, jumped on the giant jumping pillow, and swam in the pool.  In the afternoon the kids skipped their naps, did things like a hayride and spent more time on the jumping pillow.  They were pretty tired by late afternoon so we had some down time in the tent.  I put a video on the iPad in the tent and Logan fell asleep.

Right before dinner we went to the ice cream social in the gym.  We all enjoyed our $1 sundaes.  For dinner we ate fajitas and had s'mores for dessert.  Logan didn't quite know what to do with his s'mores and ended up asking for plain graham crackers.  After dinner we went to see a movie at the movie theater.  They were showing "Surf's Up" and giving out free popcorn.  I was surprised at how much Logan loved the movie, he was laughing more than anyone else!  We let the kids stay up later so they would be tired and it worked.  Both kids fell asleep while Jeff was still reading a book to them (that never happens!) and we didn't hear a peep out of them all night.

The next morning we packed up the tent and headed home.  Camping is dirty and a lot of work, but it was all worth it.  We hope to go camping again later this summer!
