Start of Summer

I feel like we officially started summer last week.  Kira finished school (more on that later) and we made it to the pool for the first time.  We spent three hours at Pirate's Cove which might be a new record for us.  We were so happy to see that the kids still love the water.  Logan saw Kira jumping in and decided he wanted to do it by himself too (last year he couldn't even jump on dry land).   He also made his first trip down the blue intermediate slide and loved it.  Kira was jumping in, going underwater, and making some attempts at swimming.  She is now tall enough to go down the adult slides that are 3 stories tall.  I wasn't sure how she would do on them, but she loved them!  She's definitely a little daredevil when it comes to water slides and thrill rides.

One aspect of the pool that I did not enjoy were all of the cicadas.  I think they were worse than normal at this pool because it is in a large regional park.  I'm sure I provided entertainment for many people as I shrieked and did a little dance every time a cicada landed on me.

On Saturday evening we went to a bbq for our street.  After living here for two years, we're still trying to learn names.  There weren't any younger kids for Kira and Logan to play with so they got a little bored.  Our solution was to just keep feeding them desserts.  Whatever works, right?!
