Weekend in Pennsylvania

Last weekend we headed to PA for my uncle's wedding.  We had a great time celebrating my Uncle Karl's marriage to Barb and getting to spend time with all of our relatives.  The reception was at a beautiful country club and we were all stuffed with yummy food and desserts by the end of the evening.

This was also the first night we stayed as a family of four in a hotel room.  I was nervous about how the kids would do but they did great.  Logan slept in a pack n play and Kira had a queen sized bed to herself.  Logan cried a couple of times earlier in the night but it never seemed to bother Kira.  I didn't sleep too well due to the a/c not working right and over-indulging in too much rich food.

The next day we decided to visit a nearby amusement park since we never made it to Sesame Place over the summer.  We chose Idlewild over Kennywood because it was supposed to be geared more towards young kids.  I remember going there as a kid so I was excited to take Kira and Logan.  It was a nice little park, a little run down in parts, but it also was on the cheaper side so we couldn't complain.  One part of the park is called Storybook Forest, where you walk on a path through the forest and check out various nursery rhyme statues and buildings and meet some characters like Little Bo Peep and Mother Goose.

Kira and Logan loved the rides and preferred the wilder ones!  Kira rode on what I would consider a big kid wooden roller coaster twice.  She also liked the log flume ride.  Logan couldn't ride on either one, but he got  the biggest kick out of watching the log boats come down the hill and would shout, "Splash!" each time.  Logan liked the carousel, car ride, and the train.
